UPDATING

Once a correlation study is performed, the task
of updating the model is usually undertaken next. Providing that
good correlation exists between the analytical and experimental
modal vectors, then the process of updating the analytical model
is achievable. However, this can be an extremely difficult and
frustrating task if the correlation between the analytical and
experimental modal vectors is not good. (An analogy I like to use
is the extraction of experimental modal parameters from poorly
collected bad data - development of an accurate modal model is a
very difficult task when the data collected is not of the best
quality).
There is a significant amount of material to
discuss relative to the updating of the analytical model and will
be addressed in a future version of this document.
