The Amplitude Weighted Assessment Function (AWAF) is used to determine the quality of modal parameters extracted from measured frequency response functions. The AWAF uses the summation of the frequency response functions and the Mode Indicator Function as a global tool for assessment. As such, only a global indicator results from the evaluation.
An Enhanced Amplitude Weighted Assessment Function (E-AWAF) has been developed which extends the original AWAF. The E-AWAF provides additional graphical representations of the data to provide both a global and individual measurement assessment of the adequacy of the modal parameters estimated. The extended tools allow for a much better identification of the errors observed from the modal parameter estimation process; distinction of differences in measurement sets over specific frequency ranges are better addressed with the E-AWAF. An example is provided to illustrate the usefulness of the extended features of the E-AWAF.
