Understanding the Effects of DOF Contribution to Orthogonality Checks - IMAC 11

Orthogonality checks are performed to determine the correlation between analytical and experimental modal data. For each mode pair, the contribution of each dof to the orthogonality matrix is examined to show the effects of all dofs to the full orthogonality check. The results of each dof contribution are scaled to more clearly identify where discrepancies exist. This new technique is referred to as the Coordinate Orthogonality Check, CORTHOG. A simple example is presented to show how dofs contribute to the orthogonality check. More importantly, the CORTHOG can also identify which dofs contribute the most to the terms of the orthogonality matrix.
